Dime A Dip Dinner
Thank you for another great year! See you the first Thursday in May, 2012.
The Dime A Dip has a wonderful history in the Village of Brooklyn. In fact, this event launched the Recreation Committee. It all began in 1992 when just one village resident went before the board requesting a merry go round in Legion Park. This resident formed a citizen committee to plan a fund raiser for the purchase of the merry go round. This committee organized a community pot luck dinner, which became the very first Dime a Dip Dinner. The citizen committee raised so much money from the first pot luck Dime a Dip Dinner, they were able to purchase the merry go round and several other pieces of equipment for the park. Because this committee of five women was able to organize such a successful event and because village residents showed their overwhelming support of this project, the Recreation Committee was adopted as a new committee of the Village of Brooklyn. Since its inception, the Recreation Committee has purchased holiday decorations, skate park equipment and new playground equipment for our village parks with funds raised at the annual Dime a Dip Dinner. This event proves what a community can do when we all come together. It demonstrates the pride Brooklyn residents have in our community. Thank you for supporting the Dime A Dip Dinner.
