Ordinance Committee April 16, 2012 Minutes
Members Present: Jessica Hawkey and Steven Lust absent was Mark Bruner Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm.
Motion: Jessica Hawkey/ Steven Lust to approve of March 19, 2012 Ordinance Committee minutes. Motion was carried.
Motion: Jessica Hawkey / Steven Lust to postpone the discussion on Chapter 2. Motion carried unanimously.
Discussed new Conceal Carry Law as it relates to Village of Brooklyn facilities and ordinance 23.06. Committee agreed with the jousted changes from the Safety Committee that the only changes that can be made are to define what “Gun-free school zones” are.
Motion: Jessica Hawkey / Steven Lust to send to Village Board for approval of amending Ordinance No.23.06 Regulation of firearms and Explosive Devices. Motion was carried
Discussed Revising chapter 23.05 Damage to Property Prohibited. There was a request from Chief Barger to review this chapter. Committee agreed with Chief Barger that the word “intentionally” should be stricken from this chapter.
Motion: Jessica Hawkey / Steven Lust to send to Village Board for approval of amending Ordinance No.23.05 Damage to Property Prohibited, to strike the word “intentionally” from this chapter. Motion was carried
The Committee did not discuss the recodification of our ordinances.
Ordinance for Residential Chicken Keeping was discussed. Hawkey gave an update on the changes to this ordinance that Lust and Bruner requested from last month’s ordinance meeting. The committee after reviewing the ordinance feels that this ordinance is ready to go to the Village Board and for public hearing for approval. Committee also discussed a tentative date for having a public hearing on this issue for Thursday April 26, 2012. Trustee Jessica Hawkey will look into setting an agenda for the public hearing and to see if this will work.
